This is a collection of thirty-six images appropriated from CCTV footage and live broadcasts. Each image is followed by tragedy- some being little-known missing person's cases, and others being highly publicized and recognizable incidents. The focus of the work is firstly on the role of the camera as an impartial viewer. Despite the immense amount of surveillance this collection alludes to, its function is shown not to prevent tragedy, but to document it. Following this train of thought, the work turns to highlight the audiences own voyeuristic fascination with these images. Our viewing of these images cannot change the events that they preclude, nor do they offer the layperson much in the way of preventing such tragedy in the future.
